  9. I  was told that this guy had quit the
  10. 'scene'  and  that  his  songs all are
  11. very  old.   The  reason  why I should
  12. review  him anyway was that he was the
  13. most  respected and 'ripped'(?) guy of
  14. all, when he was active.

  16. I  recieved  a  LOT of tunes from this
  17. guy,  and I can't put my finger on one
  18. thing  that  says  that  his tunes are
  19. older  than  others, still active.  If
  20. something  sounded  old,  it  was  the
  21. samples.   They  were  sampled  at bad
  22. rates,  but  they  fullfill their aims
  23. very good.

  25. Okay,  about  the tunes:  they are all
  26. very  good.   He has interesting ideas
  27. that   makes   me  understand  what  a
  28. respected  guy  he was.  He has a good
  29. sense  of melody, even if they tend to
  30. be  too improvised sometimes, but that
  31. is   maybe   to  give  the  tune  more
  32. 'jam'-feeling.   If  I listen to other
  33. tunes  from other guys, that were made
  34. at  the  same time, I can see that his
  35. tunes  are  much more funkier, complex
  36. and generally interesting than others.
  37. He  has  good  drumsamples,  which are
  38. programmed  to  fit  the  tunes.   His
  39. solos are very funky, and when he puts
  40. a  bass  to  them,  they are even more
  41. fancy.   In  some tunes he should have
  42. chosen  other  leads,  but  in  B.S.T,
  43. ¶Listen  and  Free From Guitar he shows
  44. good  skills  handling  'real' samples
  45. sampled    from    various   jazz/funk
  46. records.   Maybe,  maybe,  he tends to
  47. slip  away  from  the issue sometimes,
  48. and   as  I  said  about  Audiomonster
  49. before,  the  chords  and  bass  don't
  50. follow  the  tune  as whole.  You must
  51. never  forget  the basic idea when you
  52. make   songs  like  Bruno;  you  can't
  53. change   gradually,  you  must  change
  54. clearly or not at all!

  56. A  very  skilled  guy  that  uses  the
  57. medium  very  wise,  but I don't think
  58. that  he is more talented than many of
  59. the others!

  62. ¹Bruno was a pioneer in Amigamusic.  He
  63. IS   early  amigamusic,  and  has  all
  64. rights to be.  He was funky and groovy
  65. before  Nuke  was  born.  But it was a
  66. looong  time  ago(feels like ages) and
  67. that  actually  sounds  nowadays.  The
  68. samples  are  ooold and the complexity
  69. shines    with   its   absence.    The
  70. reviewers  in  Raw  #5 stated Bruno as
  71. the   best   musician,  but  he  isn't
  72. anymore.   Far  from  that!  But it IS
  73. fun to listen!
